Happy Valentine's Day!

Monkey got a basketball hoop so she doesn't have to use her hamper anymore.

Ma got the fryer that she didn't get for Christmas.

And Pa got a new hat.

"When You're Hot, You're Hot!" - Jerry Reed

I really like that I live somewhere with a radio station that still plays old country and not just the new stuff.  And I always love some music from The Snowman.

"Teach Your Children Well"

Monkey is a little crumb generator so it's about time she learned how to use the handi-vac.

Go Broncos!

Possibly "The Sheriff's" last ride and he's going out on top and with a new record, 200 career wins.  My money is on Von Miller for Super Bowl 50 MVP.

IT'S A BOY!!

This is "Red", formerly known as Zeus or inmate A316081.  He came to us today all the way from the San Antonio, Texas Animal Care Services courtesy of Lucille's Voice Animal Education & Emergency Rescue Center.  It just so happens that I share an office with the Executive Director of Lucille's Voice because her day job is with the VA.  Red is a very playful 3-5 year old strawberry blonde shepherd mix and up until yesterday he was in danger of being put down in San Antonio because they were running out of space and simply had too many dogs.  So during one of their regular rescue trips this weekend my friend heard about him and, knowing we were looking for a playmate for Brownie, she sent me his picture and information.  He's a little excited at being in a new home and running in circles around the house at the moment freaking Brownie out.  His introduction to Monkey went very well, he's housebroken, we've figured out he has at least been trained to sit and lay down, and Ma likes that he has one floppy ear.  As I've been taking photos and typing this post on my phone he and Brownie have started to warm up more to each other and play a little.  I think this new boy (I'm not the only male in the house anymore!) will work out just fine.  Thank you so much to the folks at San Antonio ACS and Lucille's Voice for the terrific work you do and allowing us play a small part in it.

"Can I Get A Hallelujah?"

I've spent most of the past two days in a car for work and heard this song a few times.  I'm a fan of jumping in the car and cranking up the music to relieve a little stress sometimes so it's growing on me.  But it's also one of those tunes that is better heard than seen because this video is terrible!  It looks like an extended version of one of those pretentious Dior perfume commercials like the one with Johnny Depp in it.  How are you going to sing about Hank Williams and Johnny Cash while driving around in an ugly old Mercedes-Benz and picking up a guy on a broke down Triumph motorcycle?! The thought did occur to me that she may be a Brit singing country music so I checked; American and born in Dallas, Texas no less.  Maybe this type of video would be better suited for a Janis Joplin cover.

Find The Meaning In Your Suffering

"Man is ready and willing to shoulder any suffering as soon and as long as he can see a meaning in it." - Viktor Frankl; Austrian Psychiatrist, Author, and Holocaust Survivor (1905-1997)

If you're looking for an inspiring and fairly quick read check out his book MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING for a psychiatrist's perspective of life in The Nazi concentration camps of World War II.
